CANDY COATED KILLAHZ

CANDY COATED KILLAHZ are throwing down a release party for their debut full length IT FACTOR. If you’re in Toronto on May 8, check out the clambake at Wrongbar (1279 Queen Street West). The album will be available through iTunes and other avenues.

In their single Playboy, singer and producer Tosha Dash slides out sweet and sultry vocals over top shadowy club rhythms. It’s a combination that doesn’t fatigue. I like this b-side too.

MOWGLI

MOWGLI is a purveyor of wobbly bass. Here are two of his latest club rerubs with more low end wonk.

One more DEEP massage, this time Mowgli takes on the Parisian band, IN THE CLUB.

Also, don’t miss Mowgli’s remix of Satisfatction by Benny Benassi. Catch it on VOULES RANDOM here.

LEAVE THE LIGHT ON

Here’s another hot one from last summer. I need it after the effing ice storm we had today.

MOBY + THE DUSTY KID

http://winnipegpaparazzi.blogspot.com/

I don’t like posting pieces about the same artists so close together but the remix below directly links two posts from this month. I’m excusing myself of the rule because of the serendipitous first degree of separation.

After dropping DUSTY KID‘s remix of DISCO LIES repeatedly the last two days I’ve concluded that the track needs to be heard by everyone. Dusty Kid spins this tune into another galaxy. It’s a nine minute trip that takes you deeeeeeeeeep into dim bass and techno caverns with washes of warm yet eerie blankets of robotdisco strings. The voyage is routed on precise mechanical beeping that alters communication within your body. I mentioned this a few posts ago.

removed by request

The other artists deserve the double recognition too. I also listen to the SPENCER AND HILL remix found on MOBY‘s single four times a day which is unusual because I don’t normally like vocals like the ones in this mixup. Heavy and modern disco.

KICK 40 REMIXED

Last week we couldn’t get to a request for CLUB THING  by YOAV. I dug up the FUNKERMAN remix so I’ll drop it this Friday on THE SHAKE. (check us on facebook).

I’m going to try to find at least one track a week from the KICK 40 that’s been re-re-reeee-constructed for the dance floor.

DAFT PUNK

Since my last post was a bit of an oldie – in recognition of the most current generation of dance music and its short shelf life – I might as well share a true old timer. Incidentally, this is the greatest house track ever according to Manalogue. In 1996 when I first heard the DA FUNK 12″ with MUSIQUE on the flip I was a volunteer at the campus & community radio station at the U of L. Since then, dance music has come a long way in terms of production, innovation, and volume of releases. “Musique” is as fresh as any track produced before or since.

Oh, the radio station was known as CKUL, but when the license switched to FM, the call letters changed to CKXU.
