It’s no secret that I love remixes of tunes that were cheese at one point. For that reason there will continually be posts of bad 90s rap and in this case, bad Euro dance. Oh but there’s more.
Member of the Budapest DJ team KOLLEKTIVA, TMX remixed Dr. Alban’s work that relied so heavily on the Happy Mondays sample. While there’s not much re-interpretation in this track specifically, this is the exact kind of musical connect the dots that gives me a boner for post-modernism. You see, some consider the HAPPY MONDAYS the fathers of rave. It was this band that allowed people to dance like they never have before – maybe thanks to a trunk load of ecstacy smuggled from Spain – at the legendary HACIENDA.
TMX’s remix relies on the obvious vocal sample, but adds a grimey bassline that should cause a bit of a wiggle.
