PENDULUM formed in their home-town of Perth (Western Australia) in 2002, when producers Rob Swire and Gareth McGrillen teamed up with DJ Paul ‘Elhornet’ Harding. While their individual formative roots ranged from producing drum & bass, breakbeat and hardcore - to playing in metal and punk bands - their comparable talents proved an unstoppable force when they managed to conquer the world of drum & bass in their first 12 months together.

For the last 12 months PENDULUM have retreated to the depths of the underground to work on their second album, and kraft their knob twiddling into live performances. They found that relying only on electronics left something to be desired so they fetched their guitars and combined them with their drum machines and sequencers to produce what some call “an electronic Led Zeppelin,” or “a crunked up Soundgarden.”
Catch the original version of Pendulum’s first single “Propane Nightmare” in the video below.
Here’s also a stellar remix from VIP.

Apologies in advance that my first comment on your site where I’ve been lurking for while is a negative one. I love this site and you’ve alerted me to a lot of the more US electro stuff that is under the radar here in the UK.
However I can’t agree about Pendulum. Pendulum must be one of most cynical bands to arrive in the last few years. Formally a drum and base act their formula for success has been to mutate into some kind of hideous DnB meets skate punk hybrid. I don’t know what else to say but that this must be some of the worst music of all time.

Hey Peter. Thanks for reading and thanks even more for commenting.
This blog game is a funny business or this blog business is a funny game. Does that make sense? I’m sorry I can’t really go into detail here but I do feel quite guilty for following a PR game when the true purpose of the blog is to share dance music from independent producers. Sometimes there are obligations to fill however. Boo. I agree with you to some extent. Pendulum’s original version is a bit naff but the remix - the only reason I posted the track in the first place - is pretty good, especially when you turn it up and try to block out the vocals.
