Finally available to blog - I’ve been waiting forever to lay this one down and thanks to G.L.O.V.E.S. I can give you a taste of the official remix of SNEAKY SOUND SYSTEM’s about-to-drop single “When We Were Young.”
Yama Indra twists the track into a smooth robotdisco affair equipped with subtle vocoder and strings so soft your heart will melt. It’s all balanced with the grooviest of basslines and original vocals full of sunshine.
The hardcopy & digital release won’t be until November 12 - hope you can wait. The single will be accompanied by remixes from Sinden, Juan Maclean, Shazam (digital only), Breakbot and of course G.L.OV.E.S.
Following last years expansive & mind warping compilation Light Sound Dance, THE BANG GANG DEEJAYS return with a new double disc mix cd - D Is For Disco, E Is For Dancing.
Included in the mix is the specially commissioned remix of “Kicking and Screaming” - the opening track on Apocalypso, THE PRESETS new album. With more bang for ya buck, the Bang Gang’s E Is For Edit remix of the track introduces a new level of dimensioneering and combined with some classic acid flashbacks. This all Australian affair gives new life to the already amazing track, that will keep even the most resilient feet on the floor…
To be clear, this is not an advertisement for Soundcloud, although the tool/site is pretty slick. Since joining a number producers have shared their work and here are a few of my favourites.
NITE CELLS keeps on top of their game with an arsenal of releases. The number of productions coming from these Hollywood boys is incredible. Their latest is another chopped up maximal grinder.
More maximal sounds coming from a remix by THE NOSE, this time in the form of shiny, robotdisco glam. GRUM is one of my favourite producers of the year and this remix keeps the original vibe alive.
This political tune from IAN TILBURYreminds me of a time long ago. Built on a slow delivery and choice vocal sample, the track is a bit jazzy house, a bit dub, and a bit spacey electronica. Check this out if you want to hear what 1995 sounded like.
And finally, another maximal tune. Don’t let the title fool you - this original by PEDRO ANGELI is more robot than disco and it’s not nearly as evil as the accompanying image either.
Here’s a thumpy filtered sweeper from LEHTMOJOE. One of his mates described it as SebastiAn meets Public and I won’t disagree. The track features vocal stabs that skip with the beat, slow acid-like modulation and a kick drum that keeps the tune in perpetual motion.
I’m not exactly sure where the Tom Petty reference comes (perhaps from the vocal sample?). This is one tune from the Dallas native’s forthcoming album.
“A beast on the selection and a total surgeon when it comes to administering outstanding technical finesse, 1928 is what many refer to as a dish best served blazing hot. A techno DJ in a former life, it was his epiphanistical pilgrimage to Alan Braxe & Fred Falke’s “Love Lost” that put him on to the 11th Commandment – do what’s best for the party. And that he does, taking dancefloors to the next level with shimmering masses of synth-heavy megablast strewn amongst whatever other cuts are gonna get people juiced at that time in that place in the right way. 1928 is not about getting deep, he is about the party.”
Hot off the press is this rework from 1928 who takes BMX’s theme and rubs it with his patented party juices. Using some 80s synth flavours the remix will quench your dance crave, but at the same time keep you slurping cuz you know it’s getting hotter!
The Spanish duo known as BUFFET LIBRE DJS who are behind the original REWIND project have started the second remix extravaganza. Where the first project focused entirely on 80s hits, REWIND 2 will cover material released from the 70s through the 90s. As with the first series, there are some ace producers modernizing some pop hits and misses. Watch for interpretations from Au Revoir Simone, Bonde Do Role, , Little Boots, Sidechains, Delorean, Boy 8-Bit, The Shoes, 80Kidz, The Requesters, The Young Punx, Malente, Grum, AC Slater, Sohodolls, Miami Horror, Revolte, Mendetz, Facteur, Russ Chimes, CFCF, Codebreaker, DVAS, Love Motel, Heads We Dance, Redial, Division Kent, Cobra Dukes, Grafton Primary, Damn Arms, Phantom’s Revenge, Nightwaves, Computer Club, Black Holes, TMX, Maethelvin, p e a c e FIRE, and so many more!
Have you heard? FABRICis celebrating their 9th birthday with massive list of DJs this weekend. Makes me wish I were in London. Check the lineup below.
To get you in the spirit - not that you need it considering who will transform you into a sweaty mess with their dancefloor stylings - Fabric released an exclusive birthday mix courtesy of TODDLA T.
Are you excited about the the new ZZT single? You should be. TIGA and ZOMBIE NATION produced one of the most maximal singles of the year with “Lower State of Conciousness.” Remix-shy JUSTICE even jumped on the rejig earlier this year. Whatever though cuz even if you are excited for “The Worm” you’re not nearly as excited as DATABASE, otherwise known as the Brazilian duo who keep pounding out floor fillers. They tell me the stole some of EROL ALKAN’s parts and made their own remix of a remix. How postmodern. How chic.
It seems like they were off everyone’s radar for a while but with the kind of output Yuri Chix and Lucio Morais consistently deliver they’re sure to bleep bleep their way to fast and friendly feet world wide.
From the horses mouth more or less. “Feedback Noise is the new EP from the brazilian project Database, created by the producers Yuri Chix and Lucio Morais, which is heavily influenced by the new maximal school of electro house. The release brings 5 new tracks, some featuring heavy basslines, distortion, plenty of layers to get lost in as well as 2 experimental tracks influenced by the French House movement and the new school of electro producers.”
CHEWY CHOCOLATE COOKIES tell me they’ve been getting tonnes of requests for their “Body Crash” remix so here it is. The original from BUY NOW (SEBASTIAN INGROSSO & STEVE ANGELLO) is an absolute monster and whenever I listen to it, the intensity of the track paralyzes me. CCC take the same energy and work their maximal magic into another dancefloor terror that pounds joyous ravers into a ball of jelly.
If you appreciate bootlegs like the one above give CCC some where you can. DANGER “14H54″ CHEWY CHOCOLATE COOKIES Rmx IS OUT NOW ONLY @ Itunes. Clicky here.
