Okay. Sometimes I’m a jerk but really I don’t mean to be. EMIL & FRIENDS, or their people anyway, sent this track to me three times and I’m just getting to it now. This blog thing wasn’t supposed to be work. ha. Nevermind about that. The funny thing about this tune though, is that I’m not sure who the remixer is – perhaps it’s Emil himself. The 23-year-old has more experience than Debbie and Dallas put together it seems. He’s been playing guitar for since grade 4 and DJing since grade 7; he’s been in a tonne of projects that seem to, unfortunately, always fall through. Now with a signing to SWEET TOUCH RECORDS hopefully things are on the up.

Here’s a brand new track from English producers du jour JOE AND WILL ASK? Considering the individual backgrounds Joe & Will hold, their collective output constantly explores the endless scope of dancefloors here there and everywhere. I’m told this track was made specifically in mind for their live performance at FABRIC on Friday May 1st. The cut falls somewhere between tech and progressive house with blasts of melodic sunshine and since their live performances tend to slide to the more energetic side of the dance spectrum, it would be well worth seeing the pair fit this track into a set.

This though from HEADSHOTBOYZ tears everything into pieces. It’s there such thing as massive dubstep? If not, I think we just found it.

Interesting name for a band yes, and to be expected, their record is equally full of laughs and giggles. It’s easy to compare the SOUNDS LIKE BS malarchy brand of humour to Chromeo – with obvious differences of course. It’s difficult to swallow the Calgary duo’s lyrcal content whole considering the nutritional content has been substitued sweet and sour rhymes.

MP3: Sounds Like BS – Hater
Dan Busheikin and Mike Searle, who make up Sounds Like BS are childhood best friends forever. In 2004, the pair followed the only sensible life path and formed the pop-rap duo Sounds Like BS. Borrowing the first initials of their last names, “B” and “S”, they forged not only a razor-sharp moniker, but a lifestyle. The following year they independently released a debut self-titled album, making and selling copies by hand. The release was primarily techno and electronica, with minimal lyrics. Just one year later in 2006 Sounds Like BS released their second album, Revelations, which showcased a more advanced sound and musicianship. The duo put on a few live shows together but were forced to part ways due to undisclosed commitments.
After a two-year hiatus, Sounds Like BS has returned – slamming harder than ever. The duo has relocated to Toronto where they have self-produced their third and most exciting album appropriately entitled 3, and playing regular shows to nubile young female fans and their confused ex-boyfriends.

KITE IN THE AIR is Emma Lucia on vox (JED & LUCIA) with production by Mark Reveley (WZRDZ, METERHEAD, Jed & Lucia) and MIKE GENIUS (WZRDZ.) Falling somewhere between Adult, Laika, Ladyhawke, Azure Ray, Mu, Gary Numan, The Pretty Things and Sebastian. Their EP dropped ahead of schedule (it was scheduled for release in May). I’m not sure what they’re live show is like but conjures images of smoke and flashing lights as if they were performing ontop of clouds in the midnight sky. Emma’s vocals are illuminating like the glow of a full moon which parallels the light and dark contrast in each track’s production.

I don’t normally post mixes, but here’s an exception. Glowing robot disco spanning 52 minutes from Toronto’s TMDP. The originality of the collection relieves the tired and endless bloghouse mixes from world domination. TMPD take their time to craft mixes so long they make supermodel legs look stubby.
