BASS WEAZAL + DAFT PUNK

Tuesday, July 14, 2009

Hot off Peznakov’s post, here’s another DAFT PUNK bootleg. (I know the track posted yesterday was actually credited to Stardust but we all know who’s who, right?) BASS WEAZAL build the 4/4 deep enough to drown a whale in this modified house tune. Enhancing their newest dancefloor spash, Will Bailey and Ill Phil skip and stutter vocal samples into near convulsions.

Audio clip: Adobe Flash Player (version 9 or above) is required to play this audio clip. Download the latest version here. You also need to have JavaScript enabled in your browser.

MP3: Daft Punk – One More Time (Bass Weazal’s One More Tune remix)

Pola-Riot

Pola-Riot

Growing up as a small town DJ in Lethbridge, Alberta, you tend to get to know all the other DJs in town (all 10 of them) and it really forces you to broaden your musical horizons. I remember going to parties and hearing a house DJ followed by a drum & bass DJ followed by a gabber/hardcore DJ followed by a trance DJ. Above all, about 70% of the DJ population were drum & bass junkies. I still remember when we got a hold of a copy of Vinyl Syndicate – Man Of Steel in ’97.

On the same level of epic-ness, POLA-RIOT from Vienna drop the Superman themed Superpimpin’ with heavy peaktime energy and slutty basslines. This is the kind of track for a strobelight only warehouse party.

With equal energy and bounce, POLA-RIOT‘s remix of STARDUST reminds me why I’m still dancing over a decade later…

ZENO

Thursday, July 9, 2009

Oh geez! This proves that dubstep isn’t always so serious. Thanks to ZENO for the laugh so make sure to check him out. There’s an ace dubstep remix of ‘Billie Jean’ over on his site too.

LINUS LOVES + DON DIABLO + BURNS

Thursday, July 9, 2009

LINUS LOVES released ‘Prom Night’ earlier this year on the Breastfed offshoot label, 21:21. The hype made its way to DON DIABLO who pulls the track away the carnival the original had so much fun playing at, and takes his re-rub for a drive down the coast. What coast I’m not exactly sure.

MP3: Linus Loves – Prom Night (Don Diablo remix)

By the way, Burns turns this track upside down. You can preview it below, then check it out at beatport.

Linus Loves – Prom Night (Burns remix)

Speaking of BURNS, the Breastfed and 21:12 patriarch sent the extended mix for his latest single last month. If you missed it, you can grab it from here. While you’re clicking about, you might as well head over to NME and grab ‘Turbo.’ I guess I missed the memo when that rag started talking dance. Weren’t they just a metal magazine? Kidding, of course.

FUKKK OFFF + OH!MEGA

Thursday, July 9, 2009

OH!MEGA does some nice work with his remix of ‘Love My Shake.’ Although he doesn’t actually do much with the bootleg – the saturated bassline from FUKKK OFF‘s original has been replaced with some swooping wobble – the result is still quite desirable.

…and for more wobble, check out one of Oh!Mega’s orginals.

Le Bus

Le Bus

Jackin’-Glitchy-Electro-8bit-Pimp-House…

LE BUS comes to us from Toronto, Ontario and brings a whole lot of awesome to the dance floor. His new album (Fission Friction Frequency) is released tomorrow (July 9th 2009) on SPIRAL RECORDINGS and it sounds like the world was taken over by sentient robots in the ’70′s and have been producing our dance music ever since.

CUBIC ZIRCONIA pumped out the monster track Fuck Work on THE SAVANT GUARD a few weeks ago (with an all-star remix lineup) and LE BUS takes the reigns for a jump & pump electro fueled dance floor stomper.

NID AND SANCY + HEADSHOTBOYZ

Monday, July 6, 2009

NID AND SANCY and HEADSHOTBOYZ get low and wobbly on this dark number designed for moments when yer off yer tits and jumping around like a nutter. Round and viscous basslines in this tune could keep you bouncing for hours.

PHOENIX + AFGHAN RAIDERS

Monday, July 6, 2009

There’s a chance that I’m just not ‘getting it’ but this remix seems a bit like the electro equivalent to shoegaze – all droney and washed out. I guess when everyone and their dog remixes PHOENIX it’s nice that AFGHAN RAIDERS do something a bit different with the track.
