HUMAN LIFE + LOVERS AND GAMBLERS

Coming on strong like a heady dose of glitter infested whimsy, Joshua Collins, Matt Wasley and Rachael Starr (aka HUMAN LIFE) are ready to embark on their European tour. And of course, never one’s to disappoint their legions of bright fans, the band have once again decided to offer another juicy, tasty and – of course – infectious remix for you to savour and enjoy.

Offering a decidedly unique twist on the original, LOVERS AND GAMBLERS tout a big beat that encompasses the dreamy, space led feel of the original, but with a pumping, electro-house thud, an outer-worldy vocoder and a chunky, sweeping synth bassline that soaks every neuron in your brain with giddy wonder and amazement. It’s what we’ve come to expect from Little Boots’ official band, who now have another opportunity to sprinkle some neon-immersed magic away from their day job of backing up the popular pop-pixie.

MP3: Human Life – Wherever We Are (Lovers and Gamblers remix)

The new track, ‘Wherever We Are’, is due for release on 1st November through the group’s LIFE X recordings, including remixes from British bass head GRUM and a glitchy electronica interpretation from Minitel Rose…oh, and did we mention the lengthy tour? Catch them live at a city near you.

MP3: Cut Copy – Where I’m Going

Krozm (Midnight Juggernauts, Architecture In Helsinki, Jet) has delivered a new installment of the “behind the scenes” video documentary. Though the new album is now recorded, mixed and just days away from being totally done this segment shows the early days of the process, stepping into Dan Whitford’s recording studio and music room as early inspiration strikes.

SHOGUN AUDIO RECORDS + MY DnB STORY

I’ve been into EDM for about 8 years, I’ve been DJ’ing for two, and EDM club DJ’ing for one. It’s only been over the past year that I’ve developed a taste for Drum & Bass. Originally I found the genre inaccessible because of the higher perceived tempos and the rabidness of some of the fans and DJs. That changed when I was introduced to the liquid subgenre of DnB this summer via local DnB DJ Chris Smooths and his northern lights mixes posted to our local EDM site WWW.MIXHARD.CA

The funky, deep sounds of  liquid DnB appealed to me as a house fan. The genre eschews the pitched bass-lines and squealing keyboards found in the ‘clownstep’ subgenre that was my introduction to the DnB several years ago.

I’ve done 3 DnB gigs so far over the past 4 months (my 4th will be next week alongside Chris :)  The last one was two weeks back at our local EDM only club PURE for the DARK VINYL NIGHT. The night focuses on drum & bass, breaks and dubstep. Generally I will acquire new tracks right up to the day before a gig, this gig was no exception :)

In my search to find new tunes to play out for the gig, I stumbled upon UK record label SHOGUN AUDIO that focuses on tech-step and darker DnB, two sub-genres I got keen on after my inital discovery of liquid. One of the  tunes I wanted was by Alix Perez and Nosia was NOT available on Beatport (my preferred site) I found the tune on the SHOGUN AUDIO via their SOUNDCLOUD page, which lead me to their official site where you can purchase songs from their catalogue.

ALIX PEREZ – DARK DAYS feat. FOREIGN BEGGARS

I found the tune I wanted contained within a fantastic EP by ALIX PEREZ AND NOSIA called DARK DAYS. I suggest checking it out if you are a fan of darker, techno influenced Drum & Bass like SPECTRASOUL & ICICLE (I’ve got plenty of trax from both of these artists as well) you’ll want to buy this EP. It’s available on vinyl and digital formats.

After I bought and downloaded the EP, I went and bought up MORE tunes after browsing through their SOUNDCLOUD page, check it out HERE:
