Photek currently resides in LA, and made a new for himself cranking out D&B in the early 90s. He’s also done remix work as well as contributing tunes across other genres like ambient.

Austria’s A.G. TRIO have released their seventh EP with two originals and a number of remixes. The cuts are all electro house-based but range from the slightly funky to chainsaw grinds.

PANTAMUZIK only started 10 years ago but their roots go much deeper than that. A decade ago there weren’t any digital sales and everything was released on vinyl. This probably fertilized the underground somewhat. The label and the artists involved didn’t bridge sonics for marketing reasons – they did it for a love of music. Label founder, Humberto Polar describes it best.
When I started Pantamuzik, back in 2000, no digital music downloads were sold at all, vinyl distribution was an insane investment in Latin America (still is) and nobody djed with CDs. So, if you were a musician as I was, trying to establish an ethos about creating a real Latin-American breed of electronic music that didn’t sound like an idiot putting some congas on top of some loops, you had to be really patient and in good terms with your own suicidal tendencies, financially speaking.

Iceland’s STEED LORD have a knack for befriending nearly every top producer with ears to the underground. I’m not sure how they do this but who’s complaining. Certainly not me, especially since the combined efforts result in such pleasant diversity. They’re own production (of original tunes and remixes) spans enough genres to dizzy the strongest midnight zombie. Ahem. Check the house tune below.
