Deadly new track from KRAFTY KUTS and SPORTY-O. It starts out with a bit of summer groove that wouldn’t sound out of place on sunny patio, things change at the first breakdown. It’s all wobble and bass after so forget about putting this in your deep house set. The single has some heavyweight remixes, including a pair from Pyramid.
Double the name, double the heart. This enterprising producer from Victoria is blowing me away with a laid back take on dance music (without becoming Chillwave). More specifically drawing influnce from The Postal Service, in a way a lot more creative than that Owl City bullshit. Replacing Gibbard with Steffaloo and going for the romantic jugular.
The amazingly weird/fun/funky d’Eon is sharing his Ghosthack mixtape that he made for Vice Italy. Move your feet to some old ass breaks that segue nicely between something bubbling up from the underground and something that feels a little more familiar. Follow d’Eon on Twitter.
We’ve been getting a lot of uninspiring quote-unquote electro bangers lately, which for some might be okay, but I thought everyone grew tired of that sound in 2008.
Anyway, without intentionally pissing people off, especially those gracious enough to send us their work, it’s always nice to hear something with a bit more substance. It’s even better when we get tunes that bring us back to our youth – reminiscent of those secret warehouse parties in the early to mid nineties. Despite the cold, mechanical tone, this remix (and the genre as a whole) has soul.
HEY TODAY!‘s long awaited new single “Minor” will be out on Kitsuné on June 6th 2011 and will contain huge remixes by Black Strobe, Para One, Abstraxion and a special Hey Today! video edit. ‘Minor’ showcases the duo’s complex, deeply energetic nature – often drawing on various 80s electro-tinged influences and the remix package presents some of the most prolific producers around at the moment – Black Strobe, Para One, Abstraxion and TWR72 for a Beatport exclusive.
I’ve raved about these boys and their epic Modern Math night, and their solid crew of attractive and talented DJs (especially the super sexy Typist and Crimson.), and even posted a remix or two, so here is a little more. Straying from the current hype of what is now known as ‘Brostep’ (that didn’t take too long) and in to the much more entertaining and sexy sound of Funky, Piranha Piranha bring us a reason to move our feet.
