JESS & CRABBE PRESENT BAZZERK

Moombahton is something I’m ready to admit that I totally don’t understand. I thought the same thing of kuduro. I’m pretty sure the lack of general appreciation I have for the two genres is because I’m white. What? I’m kidding. For real though, I imagine both genres sound much better played loudly, in a club, preferably with several bouquets of  sweaty ladies blooming their pants off.

So, when a few tracks from a compilation curated by JESS & CRABBE came our way I let my mind wander a bit and I took myself into what could be a steaming kuduro basement club. I adjusted my monitors, turned the volume up, and noodled with the EQ when I played these…

You know what? I kinda liked it.

FABIAN + JUSTIN FAUST + NIGHTWAVES + RESET!

A super deluxe package came our way courtesy of the fine folks at BINARY RECORDS.

Last Flight is just the first taste of FABIAN’s debut album, Say Goodbye, which drops in a couple weeks. The debut single has some heavyweight remixers in its corner, all of which increase the altitude in the robotdisco anthem. Below you’ll find the original as well as remixes from JUSTIN FAUST and NIGHTWAVES.

Of course, what would an MP3 blog be without the freebees. Cop RESET!‘s wobbly interpretation then grab some others here.

DOCTOR DRU + ADANA TWINS

I know it’s all cheesey and super cliché to compare music to seasons, but as summer draws to a close it’s hard not to find similarities in the latest from the people behind EXPLOITED RECORDS. Peep the vid or the SoundCloud stream below.

Doctor Dru & Adana Twins – Juicy Fruit by Adana Twins

SHIR KHAN & Exploited dip their toes into the world of disco edits with the launch of new label BLACK JUKEBOX which sees contributions from label regulars Homework as well as introducing the Hamburg axis DOCTOR DRU & ADANA TWINS into the fold. Doctor Dru & Adana Twins lead the way with their slo-mo housed-up boogie-soul joint “Juicy Fruit”. Alongside it “Supreme” dips into housier territory with the primitive scratching and rising piano lines giving proceedings an 80s sensation soaked with twilight niceties. Both tracks are presented it in a nicely recut fashion reminiscent of the great Tiger & Woods. On the flip Homework transforming “Lenny” into a glistening disco house number whilst “Love Ray” is perhaps the most straight up excursion into main room filtered disco house territory.

KILL THEM WITH COLOR

KILL THEM WITH COLOR, or kill them with colored sounds. That’s a concise way to describe the sounds of this Canadian EDM act. Throughout my posts on this blog, i’ve mentioned my preference for dynamic electronic music – not just non-stop noise. The sounds of KTWC, through remix and original tracks, fit this description perfectly.

The following are a pair of stellar upcoming re-mix tracks from the artist:

My favorite song by KTWC , is ‘HURT YOU’. Here’s the target=”_blank”>official video:

STEREOFUNK + D’ SECRET SVC

Not many electro house tunes pull me in the way they used to. Once in a while though, one tackles my eardrums and wrestles them to the dancefloor. The new banger COCO MACHETE RECORDS does just that.

STEREOFUNK, who had the hit remix of FUKKK OFFF’s ‘More Than Friends’, returns to the label teaming up with D’ Secret SVC to deliver a disco inspired electro anthem to keep the party moving. Check it out and download from the SoundCloud player below.

HEAVYFEET – INTIMIDATING THE NEIGHBORS

Following HEAVYFEET’s debut release on Plant Music last fall, the Manchester lads return with a second offering. The four-track EP’s sonic strength comes from combining forward thinking heavy house, grown-up garage and well-executed club flavors. While these are genres we’re all familiar with, I’d venture to say the combination of the sounds results in tunes that stand on their own. In my mind it’s absolutely forward thinking and I don’t think I’ve heard anything like it – HeavyFeet and Plant Music deliver the rather excellent Intimidating The Neighbors EP.

The fine folks at Plant have been kind enough to offer the lead track as a free download (check the SoundCloud player below).

CLASSIXX + JULIO BASHMORE

Ah, summer. It’s warmth. It’s love from the sun. Some might not really understand what I mean by that because they don’t get to experience the massive fluctuations between seasons. In Winnipeg (and Canada in general) there’s a 70° range in temperature. In the winter the sun shines but it’s warmth never arrives, which makes the summer heat all that much more precious.
