We received the latest single from OFF RECORDINGS earlier this week. The two originals and a remix reinforces why OFF is my favourite label from 2012 (more on this soon, I hope).
Born in Mexico and currently based in Barcelona, MIGUEL PUENTE made himself a name with releases on Hot Waves and Art Department’s No. 19 Music. For his OFF debut he presents 2 diverse originals. “Small Proposition” is all about its catchy and bold vocal sample and a massive bassline.
MAT.JOE deliver their first remix for OFF, turning Small Proposition into a more groove-based affair which builds towards a big central break.
“Lil Freakyness” is the standout for me. The track has similar ingredients, but uses them in a sleazier and darker manner, making it the weapon of choice for your next afterhour set.
Grab the EP from beatport or if prefer vinyl, get it from Deejay.de.

The original is so good! It is definitely worth noting that the vocals are poached from NATE DOGG (R.I.P.).
So good. I hope they keep cranking out the Gangsta-Funk re-rubs,
Werdup! OFF has the formula down for the gangsta remixes and samples. Yeah, clearly Nate Dogg too. Such a smooth voice, RIP.
