ARCADE FIRE + CHRISTIAN TV

Arcade Fire - The Suburbs (Christain TV remix)

As ARCADE FIRE‘s latest long-player rises in the charts there are bound to be a few remixes. Here’s one from CHRISTIAN TV who bootlegs the title track of the album. It’s a blissed out, atmospheric number with some clear dubstep influences that floats in the air like an angel with tired, heavy wings.

DJ FAME vs ERIC SHARP + SANTIAGO & BUSHIDO + TRILLBASS + ANDREW PHELAN & GEORGE COCHRANE

Written by manalogue. Filed under dubstep, house, remix, tech house. Tagged , , , , , . 1 Comment.

To celebrate the launch of their new label, ROCK IT SCIENCE LABS, they’re giving away almost the entire first release at full quality for free!

It’s largely an exploration into the realms of tech house with elements of midnight funk. It’s difficult to pick the standout cut from the pack. The original mix layers basslines like a bricklayer on acid while Andrew Phelan & George Cochrane dig up bleeps and snares from early underground electro. Santiago & Bushido go deep with the kick drum and tweak the keys with a touch of distortion. Taking things even darker, Trillbass shake the track into a dubstep monster.

Peep the tracks below and show your support on beatport.

DILLON FRANCIS + DROP THE LIME + DR HOLLYWOOD

Dillon Francis

DILLON FRANCIS‘ ode to the Pubahs has a step on the original track’s sexual euphemisms. Well actually, it strips the metaphors entirely but keeps enough of the original to make me feel a little nostalgic. It reminds me of the time I stole a 12″ white label of “Sandwiches” when I was doing contract work at a radio station in Edmonton, Alberta. I probably could have asked for it…the station would never play this record (I don’t even think they had turntables in the studios) so I figured I’d save everyone the trouble.

When I was in university I ran into a friend from high school in a parking lot in my home town. He was in his Dodge Daytona listening to Celine Dion. I asked him why he was playing such garbage and he told me the album had a lot of bass. Now 15 years later I wonder if he likes dubstep. I doubt he knows what it is but you do so click below.

I CAN’T TURN THIS UP LOUD ENOUGH! This remix of DROP THE LIME wobbles my face off.

FREESTYLERS + PETE JORDAN + KOUNCIL HOUSE

Written by manalogue. Filed under breaks, dubstep, electro, remix. Tagged , , , . No comments.

Freestylers

Aston Harvey and Matt Cantor were both making different styles of music when they first met in London in the mid-90s. Uber-engineer Aston had been half of pioneering breakbeat hardcore act Blapps Posse, getting busy with cuts like ‘Buss’ It’ and ‘Don’t Hold Back’ before going on to work with Definition Of Sound, Rebel MC and DJ Rap. Matt Cantor, meanwhile, was recording with Andy Gardner from the Plump DJs as Cut ‘N’ Paste and Strike for the fledgling Freskanova label.

Discovering a mutual love of hip-hop and electro, Matt and Aston started making tracks together. The first record they sampled was old skool electro classic ‘Don’t Stop The Rock’ by Freestyle Express, and the resulting track ‘Drop The Boom’ on Scratch City Records launched them as THE FREESTYLERS – the non-genre-specific name with hip-hop connotations fit them like a glove.

Here are two remixes they’re giving away. The first is falls somewhere between dubstep and breaks. Making things a bit more complicated, they’ve thrown in a bit of a clubby vocal with throwbacks to their 90s roots.

MP3: Freestylers – This City (Kouncil House remix)

Some might call the second remix electro house, but there’s more to it than that. For example, there’s a bit of a reggae breakdown and the obvious rhymes, given the title.

MP3: Freestylers – Bounce to This (Pete Jordan remix)

The latest track “The Cracks” has been signed to NEVER SAY DIE  RECORDS with an amazing package of remixs by Flux Pavillion, Ctrl Z and Eddy Temple Morris – due out on 19th July.

US Tour Dates:
2nd July – West Palm Beach Florida
3rd July – Dayton , Oh
7th July – Seattle
8th July – San Francisco TBC
9th July – La – Giant

Fever Ray x Piranha Piranha + Giant45 Mixes

Written by Bonnaventure. Filed under bass, breaks, cancon, club, drum n bass, dubstep, house, remix, wobble. Tagged , , , , , , , , , , . 1 Comment.

MR. GEOGRAPHY and DAN SOLO make PIRANHA PIRANHA. They make dubstep, dnb, and hail from Calgary, Alberta, Canada. You dig? Of course you do! I always blah blah blah about how great they are, and how shocked I am that dubstep and bass music has taken off in this town. On CJSW or in the clubs, a wobble or a n amen break is not such a shocking appearance. This remix mashes the moody slow-down of Fever Ray with the JUMP UP sound of Drum and Bass.

Fever Ray – If I Had A Heart (Piranha Piranha’s Grownup Jumpup Mix) (new link)

Enjoy and all that! Recently Dan Solo recorded a mix at GIANT 45 on 17th ave here in Calgary and shared it with the world…. and now it looks like it’s going to be a regular thing. A-mac hits up Vol. 2 with some tech-ier sounds. ENJOY!

SIMIAN MOBILE DISCO + BETH DITTO + FAR TOO LOUD

Written by manalogue. Filed under bass, breaks, dubstep, electro, remix, wobble. Tagged , , , . No comments.

Here’s another freebee from U&A RECORDINGS.

Delivering his take on SIMIAN MOBILE DISCO‘s brilliant “Cruel Intentions” feat. Beth Ditto, Oli Cash aka FAR TOO LOUD is back up in your face, blurring all the boundaries by mashing up breaks, UK funky, electro house & bassline into one seriously fresh bass heavy refix.

What I like best about this bootleg is surprising sonic assult. The track starts with some simple keys and vocals but at about a minute into the tune, Far Too Loud brings the thunder with a dubstep-influenced bassline. Considering who the remix is from, I suppose there’s not much of a surprise after all. This one’s a stomper so grab the tune from the widget below.

ELITE FORCE VS THE GOSSIP

Written by manalogue. Filed under bass, breaks, dubstep, electro, mashup, remix, wobble. Tagged , , , . No comments.
I’m telling you, the “Revamped” compilation from ELITE FORCE is hands down, one of the best releases of all time. Do yourself a favour and pick up all 15 tracks for a measly $12.99 (USD) on beatport or grab some deluxe packages from the Elite Force Store that includes some stellar and exclusive material. It doesn’t hurt that Elite Force has been around for a long time and is one of the most sincere individuals on the planet. He’s passionate about all of his endeavours. To prove it, here’s what he has to say about the project.
“I decided to embark on a whole new extension of the re-edit idea looking at creating a number of brand new tracks out of components taken from older tunes… proper mash-ups. Some were born out of simple live jams that evolved into finely tuned studio creations, whilst others were ground-up rebuilds where I was effectively writing new pieces of music using samples from other tracks. There was no fixed way of working and no sacred cows that went un-plundered.” [Elite Force]

He’s been kind enough to give away a tonne of freebees, and here’s another, this time he takes on THE GOSSIP with Beth Ditto’s vocals topping a re-arranged version of Elite Force’s own tech-funk classic “Engine” and a few cheeky snippets of Mr.Oizo thrown into the melting pot. Grab it from the widget below and make sure to check out the links that follow.
