In case you forgot, THE BLOODY BEETROOTS release their debut long player, “ROMBORAMA” tomorrow. I don’t have a lot to go from other than the two latest singles and the schwack of EPs and remixes coming from the Italian duo. DIM MAK however, describes the album like this.

This is the fusion of two concepts, describing Sir Bob Cornelius Rifos anarchical musica opera. The album destroys the notion of musical genre, expanding the meaning of Music in a period in which this term is in serious jeopardy. In this collection of twenty original tracks, the only common denominator is electronic. It is a journey into the mind of Sir Bob, oscillating between techno, punk, classical and baroque, soundtrack for film, house, italo-disco and hip hop.

Each song has its own inner world, explored with the help of featured artists of the calibre of Justing Pearson (All Leather), Lisa Kekaula, The Cool Kids, Beta Bow, Cecile, STEVE AOKI, J*Davey, and Vicarious Bliss.

The single, “Awesome” featuring THE COOL KIDS, was released on July 27th. Grab your copy from your preferred retailer if you haven’t already.

LE BUS comes to us from Toronto, Ontario and brings a whole lot of awesome to the dance floor. His new album (Fission Friction Frequency) is released tomorrow (July 9th 2009) on SPIRAL RECORDINGS and it sounds like the world was taken over by sentient robots in the ’70′s and have been producing our dance music ever since.

FELIX CARTAL is playing in Winnipeg again. The first time he was here he was on tour with MSTRKRFT and laid down one of the best sets of 2008. I’m not exactly sure how he did it without using headphones, but whatev. It was all maximal mayhem until JFK tripped over Felix’s laptop cable or something and killed the power. No one seemed to mind anyway, I think cuz everyone was on drugs.

Fresh from 1980 RECORDINGS comes this piece of late night mystery. Turn the lights down low for super deep, tech house. The breakdowns are epic and the piano – OMFG. It reminds of France. My wife and I went to Paris and Nice for our honeymoon. When we were in Nice we found some flyers and talked to some people about what was going on in the evenings. We hopped around a bit and tech house was everywhere – in restrants, clubs, bars, beaches, etc. It was lovely. So is this.

SLOAN is one of my favourite bands ever. They have this song, “Coax Me” off of their Twice Removed record. It’s great. There’s this line that describes how I feel about trance. You know, sometimes it’s alright and if you took a happy pill or something you’d beam starbursts and smiles out of your tits.

It goes, “It’s not the band I hate it’s their fans / Three cans of water provokes me”

Come on. Let’s face it. Pretty much everyone who listens to trance is a bit of a wanker. The music might be okay but most of the people who listen to it, well…never mind. Herve’s remix isn’t like that. It is quite mainstream in places but overall it delivers. It reminds me of my last weekend in England. I spent it in Leeds – holy – crazy good times. Thanks G.
