Veteran producer and mashup artist COPYCAT brings you this tasty gem that should have the girls dripping, something. Drinks maybe? Get yer mind out of the gutter, although yer right. The warm filters a la Fred Falke combined with pre-indie 80s creamypants angular pop of Duran Duran is enough to melt anyone’s danger zone into sticky parts.

One of my absolute favorites during APC’s two-year existence is without a doubt Little Boots. We were quite early picking up La Hesketh and pretty soon her many unofficial tunes, remixes and long mixes became a staple on APC. We simply worshipped her and adored her impeccable taste in music, exemplified with numerous quirky covers and a BRILLIANT posse of remixers and producers by her side. Some days we could even post several of them in a row – in fact, it became kind of an challenge to scout new Little Boots related tracks and post them first…

Finally, when the big official debut release arrived, the magic was gone. Her first single was bland – and that’s me being kind. The rest of the new material on the album didn’t really impress me either. So I started to lose interest and found other obsessions. But when it was time to decide on a track for the AudioPorn Central anniversary, I couldn’t really see myself remixing anyone else than Little Boots. And just to make it interesting, I went for the aforementioned crap single – albeit in a terrific, wistful 80s infused remix by the ever so brilliant Fred Falke. Here it is accompanied by Duran Duran’s classic “Girls on Film”. My first mashup in ages. I’d almost forgot how fun it is to make them…

Every Friday Lotek and I produce and host a weekly radio show on 92.9 KICK FM. The initial format for the show was all remixes-of-songs-you-probably-know and mashups but more often than not we play a lot of new electro. Lately, the wobble gets me moving so I play as much bass music as possible. It’s funny, I still think it sounds like UK garage / speed garage / UKG. I’ve always been a huge Aphex Twin fan. ZUCKR‘s remix modernizes the tune and tweaks it for the dancefloor.

TEVAR does a simple but clever A+B mashup. Ace material really. Normally I try not to play two of the same tracks in a set, never mind back to back. I thought these went well together though.

This track is so subtle and kind of draws me in by surprise with its minimal club wobble combo.

When I lived in Brighton, I was lucky enough to see STANTON WARRIORS nearly every month. They put on a great show and their production is incredible and so adaptable. This one’s off of the Stanton Sessions Vol. 3 compilation.

I’ve heard a number of stories about how hard it can be to pass through Canadian customs. I guess custom officers are trained to look for records or something – not that DJing is illegal here necessarily, the Canadian government just wants to know if you’re doing it as a job. If so, you need a work visa to hit the decks on Canadian soil.  Apparently, something like this happened to LEONARD when he played in Montreal. Now he’s angry and making angry music. Just kidding. Finally a bit of a mashup. Apparently MAGNUM 38 met Grace Jones weeks ago in a famous Karaoke Bar somewhere in Tokyo. He woke up after passing out in the booth and wasnt able to remember if the encounter was a dream or not. The incidence is still in your favour however. The experience provided enough inspiration for this bootleg: part disco classic, part bass stutter.

Here’s a couple of new edits from LIGHTSOVERLA. You may recognize them from their ace mashup of MSTRKRFT and DEADMAU5. This bootleg must have inspired them to remix “Bounce” into a screaming monster of a track. I know what you’re thinking, “oh no. not a-n-o-t-h-e-r” remix of that tune.
