I discovered this video in relation to a candid facebook conversation about Bladerunner, that turned in to talk of Robot Intercourse. This video was linked by a friend of a friend. K-Conjog sent us an email claiming to be a one man boy band. I downloaded his tunes expecting him to be an a capella singer or something. I think he may be the opposite of a capella.

Like a digital equivalent to the introduction 7-inch, THE YOUNG PUNX have put together this two-track EP. Featuring tracks from their forthcoming second album, ‘Mashpop & Punkstep’, this is the first new material to be released to the public. The Simple Pleasures/Like Dat EP introduces new directions, showcases new collaborators, and demonstrates how The Young Punx continue to evolve.

I’ll be honest I’m not feeling it, but that’s no reason not to click below. The colab with Bass D is thick but I can’t get past the guitar. “Simple Pleasures” points to the diverse influence of reggae it’s truly punk rock meets drum n bass. If you thought that wasn’t possible, The Young Punx just proved you wrong.

The device it’s self is actually very cool, I may have to buy one on pay day before this video goes viral and they sell out. Hit the jump to view another video of Little Boots kicking a bedroom version of “Meddle” that shows the Stylophone in action.

I’m not saying KINKY is one of those bands, but you have to wonder about the inspiration behind the video.

The tune “You Can’t Make a Sound” sounds a touch like M83 with more of an ear for the dance floor. Great production with a delicate fuzzy low-end. I’m not sure why this guy is starving, this song is majorly catchy and much better than anything I’ve heard on the radio recently.

SCHLOCK! – You Can’t Make a Sound (Album Version)

Let’s jump-start the weekend with a bouncin’ ragga track courtesy of N.A.S.A. and featuring AMANDA BLANK, SIZZLA and LOVEFOXXX.

LOGAN delivers a stylishly ultraviolent video, incorporating characters and artwork from THE DATE FARMERS. It’s a double-cross gone wrong in an isometric barrio, complete with guns and bombs, knives and helicopters, cocaine and mouse-ears.

While it won’t necessarily mix well at a Manalogue rave, cats like the JUNIOR BOYS, AZEDA BOOTH, DEPECHE MODE, PET SHOP BOYS, SEBASTIEN TELLIER and the like really appeal to my robot brain while still being lyrical. When I realease a record, it’s going to sound a bit like all of these amazing artists, but that is in the future for now.

It is currently the present (unfortunately) so we will have to make due with some sweet tunes to make our lives better:

KNIIFE PRRTY can’t spell very well, but they sent us their EP and I really dig the low BPM jams that are surely making the Windy City proud. I really suggest against using the genre “Emotronic” on their MySpace, but that’s their own thing…

Rocking a CASIO SK-1 before it was “Vintage” is my good friend Jeff King, who not only makes cool electronic music as THE SQUARE WAVES, but has also been in almost every band in Lethbridge, Alberta. He records everything himself and then gets a backing band to play prestigious MUSIC FESTIVALS. The Square Waves have the versatility to bob genres, starting out sounding like “Casiotone for the Delightfully Accompanied” and then moving to “Kevin Shields with a thing for robots”. Listen to this song and be inspired!

Ok, I realize I’m long winded, it’s a curse. To finish up, I was digging through the THIEVES LIKE US MySpace and found they are doing a remix competition for their tune YOUR HEART FEELS. If you’ve got the goods, take a crack at remixing it and become famous!

The new record from IGLU & HARTLY won’t save the world but this remix from MINI DOG (sorry, no link with the press pack) could get a party going. I wouldn’t necessarily define the music from the album as a sonic milkshake or a culture defying laser show as some might have you believe either. It has a lot of things going for it, like rhymes with smooth deliveries, and hooks that get caught in your cheek. The rest is up to you.

Coincidentally, this just came the other day from OK DUDE RECORDS and after hearing it, I think Lohan and Tellier would make a nice couple. Think about it. He’s much older and she needs to um, be nurtured by a well experienced gentleman. Give me a high five if you agree.
