Here’s some mid-tempo stomp from BASEMENT FREAKS with his edit of Xchong’s Luniz remix. Adding some extra wumph in the low end into a moombah shuffle, this free download promises to get those feet up.
Side note: we make a point of posting quality productions, but the sonics this edit are, like whoa, riiiiiiiiich!
One of Winnipeg’s busiest club djs has been in the studio, jamming out remixes and originals, as of late. DJ HOLLYWOD HYPE says he’s going to release something a track every week for 2014. The first in the series is a collaboration with Vancouver producer GDUBZ. The free track is a bootleg of Ball by T.I. and Lil Wayne – it’s a bass heavy moombah/glitch combo. Here we go!
The boys from BASEMENT FREAKS recently returned from a 8500 km, 15 show tour through the east block of Europe. Appropriately titled the “Funk From the Trunk East Block Tour” they succinctly and eloquently recapped the tour here. For me, it was more or less summed up in these few lines.
For every tough moment there was always another one so ridiculously awesome, so freakishly funky we could not help but smile and follow along in our east Block European adventure.
I think many tours, especially ones covering massive distances, could be summarized as such but the entire post is worth a read.
The Freaks kicked off the tour with a free download, so we’ll end with that.
Here’s a bit of a techno stomper from LEDOOM. The Austin native dialed the low end quite nicely in this cut and adds a tinge of electro flare for some hands in the air encouragement. The tune is free, courtesy of Play Me Records.
Incidentally, LeDoom is one of the most talented producers out there. He doesn’t really stick to any particular genre, rather combines elements of tech, moombah, trap, disco, and electro. Oh, dood’s also quite generous. Check out these other freebees…and many more on his SoundCloud page.
It’s all beginning to make sense now. A few months back we heard THE SPANK!‘s moombah stomper remix of Timothy Wisdom’s “Jiggle What You Got.” I remember thinking to myself, who is this fellow? Some new talent signed to BOMBASTIC JAM? At the time, I couldn’t find any info about him. Turns out he’s none other than the German funky breaks pioneer, BASEMENT FREAKS.
In this side project, The Spank! delves into the realms of bass music, jumping from moombahton, dancehall, and glitch-hop. This new freebee does just that. With a choice Grand Master Flash sample and a crushing moombah low end, this is a mid-tempo jam to be played loud and proud.
Our friend ILL TYPE joins the ranks of Manalogians. What better way to introduce him than with his latest mix. It speaks for itself but if you must know, Ill Type is from Winnipeg. He plays a tonne of mid-tempo bass music…and he does it well.
