Relative new-comer to the ghetto funk scene, SOME DJ‘s first release on the iconic ghetto funk label GHETTOFUNK.CO.UK just dropped. It’s a bangin’ four-track EP with the expeced wobbles and breaks, plus a drum n bass tune thrown in for those who enjoy the higher velocity. If you’re a Ghetto Funk VIP then you probably already have the tune. If not, it’s a free download as of April 11.

Oh, and if you missed this a couple days ago, or want to hear the full track (instead of a snippet) here’s another new wobble monster from Some DJ.

If that wasn’t enough, here are a few deadly tracks from Some DJ for free download.

Fedde Le Grand - Rockin' High

Dutchman FEDDE LE GRAND shouldn’t need an introduction, afterall he released “Put Your Hands Up For Detroit,” one of my all time favourite tunes. Since that single dropped, his profile has been growing bigger and bigger and well, bigger.

I was pretty excited to see his latest appear in the inbox but had a huge amount of skepticism with BENNY BENASSI attached to it. Let’s just say NICKY ROMERO‘s remix, full of it’s 21st Century tribal-like drums makes up for everything.

As the world joins together for the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games this summer, Coca-Cola invited artists from around the globe to jointly depict what this monumental occasion means to them. The alliance of visual and musical artists from different lands started with eight blank canvasses of aluminum contour bottles – and eight corresponding themes reflecting the possibilities for happiness and connection from both the COKE SIDE OF LIFE platform and the upcoming global gathering in Beijing.

Through a unique collaboration, eight of China’s most-exciting visual artists (individual graphic designers and design teams) were united with eight progressive musicians from various countries to interpret – through the sharing and expression of eight themes – the ideas and passions that connect people.

Each musical artist – Tiësto, Benny Benassi, Kaskade, Jes, Serge Devant, Lucas Prata, Cezar and Jay-J—have each been provided with a theme and using music as their form of expression, created a song that expanded on their inspiration drawn from the theme.

Jay-J’s assigned theme was Happiness and this is what he came up with.

I wonder if the spirit that Coca-Cola is bringing to the games will be monitored and controlled as much as the spectators of the games. China and it’s government released a list of what can and cannot be done. Large banners and flags are banned presumably to prevent political protests. Spectators are also prohibited from gathering in groups in matching colours and attire. Gambling along with streaking is also prohibited. The most bizarre rule however involves babies – you can bring them as long as they don’t cry. Seriously.

The Jay-J track was the forth release of the WE8 project and the kind folks at Coke just sent the previous three, so here they are in reverse chronological order.

Benny Benassi and THE SHAKE

Ha! No joke, Lotek and I are opening for Benny Benassi. Funny bizniss.

We’re playing in the side room, here are the details:

Monday, April 28, 2008 8:00 PM – 2:00 AM
Tijuana Yacht Club (TYC) 1405 St. Matthews Avenue
$20 plus GST

Lotek vs Manalogue 8pm-10pm
Khemlab 10-11pm
LoProgression 11pm-12pm

Presumably Benny Benassi starts at midnight.

Since we’re on so early on a Monday nonetheless, we’ll probably play some slower material, but who knows – it could get all hyphy too.
