Here’s a tune that has my click finger ready. Coming out on May 29 as part of the LouLou Records‘ 50th release THE BEATANGERS and BOOGIE VICE “Ride With Me” comes at you like a fast moving party bus. Everyone on this ride is full of smiles, funked up with a bassline smooth enough to roll over a monster truck.
Also worth checking out is the compilation mix from the label’s founders, Kolombo and LouLou Players.
From out of nowhere it seems, THE BEATANGERS are about to release a deadly hip-house EP on Kolombo’s LouLou Records. As a fan of KOLOMBO for more than a few minutes, this latter detail is what drew me into the listening to the promo in the first place. As a hip-house release the EP relies on some classic hip hop vocals and samples, but the richness of the basslines and the warmth of the kicks stand on their own.
Apologies for the teaser preview, riddled with anit-piracy IDs. Do yourself a favour though and grab this when it drops on December 12.
For a somewhat better look at the release, check the DJ Mag, France podcast mixed by Sirus Hood.
Fusing elements of funk, house, and hip hop, KOLOMBO‘s debut on OFF Recordings is a homage to an all-weekend party extravaganza. Of the two-track EP from the Belgian producer the title track, “Let’s Drink,” is the stand out with it’s thick bassline smeared over an 80s-influenced funk break.
