I’m predicting AMTRAC to be in many peoples’ top picks for 2011. The Kentucky native produces the kind of sultry robotdisco wet dreams are made of.

MP3: Amtrac –  Overtime ♥♥♥

MP3: Amtrac – Feel Good ♥♥♥

Dood has been getting support from everyone lately. His back catalogue should give some indication as to why. The 23-year-old expands beyond the shine and sparkles and gets into a bit of wobble. Je t’aime.

MP3: Amtrac – Distant Heartbreak

MP3: Amtrac – Work The Gun ♥♥♥

MP3: M.I.A. – XXXO (Amtrac remix) ♥♥♥

VILLAINS are playing in Winnipeg for the third time! The READYMIX crew are bringing the LA duo in to celebrate their 2nd anniversary. The party will be a bit nuts, running two floors with a number of acts, including The BEAT!, KMac, and THE SHAKE (that’s Manalogue and Lotek yo!), plus Readymix residents Dial.Up and Dan L.

Readymix has one of the best nights Winnipeg has to offer. Cover is only $4 and it’s always packed. Expect this one to reach capacity so get there early. If you’re in town and want in, give us a holla.

MP3: Dragonette – Fixin to Thrill (Villains remix)

MP3: Lykke Li – Little Bit (Villains remix)

MP3: N.A.S.A. feat. M.I.A. + Santigold + Spankrock – Whatchadoin (Villains remix)

All the way from L.A. CONFETTI brings LAZRtag to Winnipeg. The producing / remixing / djing pair have been heating up dancefloors for a minute already and with their remix of “Crimewave” hitting the HYPE MACHINE‘s Zeitgeist list for 2008 the duo have created a demand for everything they do.
I was lucky enough to see their gear rider for the show. Vinh and Erik embrace the future of djing by doing more than just play records. They’re adding a live production element with the assistance of two M-Audio Trigger Finger midi controllers. The show will be insane. If you’re in Winnipeg, get in on this. We have tickets to give away so holla at us if you’re plan on coming down. Send a polite email to
Before the show LOTEK and I will have a chat with them on THE SHAKE, our radio show. We broadcast live every Friday night from 8-9 (central time) on 92.9 KICK FM. If you care to tune in from outside of Winnipeg, you can stream the show on KICK FM’s website. Incidentally, THE SHAKE djs are opening for LAZRtag.

Every Friday Lotek and I produce and host a weekly radio show on 92.9 KICK FM. The initial format for the show was all remixes-of-songs-you-probably-know and mashups but more often than not we play a lot of new electro. Lately, the wobble gets me moving so I play as much bass music as possible. It’s funny, I still think it sounds like UK garage / speed garage / UKG. Since a few of the tunes played tonight were sent to this blog, I figured I’d make a huge post of that material…time is super limited these days. (The material without download links I bought / don’t have permission to share.)

Classixx - I'll Get You

I grabbed this one from beatport. It’s a wicked summer house tune.

I’ve always been a huge Aphex Twin fan. ZUCKR‘s remix modernizes the tune and tweaks it for the dancefloor.

02. Aphex Twin – Windowlicker (Zuckr’s Breakbeat Chop mix)

TEVAR does a simple but clever A+B mashup. Ace material really. Normally I try not to play two of the same tracks in a set, never mind back to back. I thought these went well together though.

03. Aphex Twin vs M.I.A. – Windowlickin’ (Tevar mashup)

GIVE ME A KISS are some of my new fav’s. This track is so Justice and so good! Wicked build up and perfect for an opening set.

04. Give Me a Kiss – No More Patient (Original mix)

Seriously heavy electro from NO1ELSE.

Trouble & Bass - Scion A/V

Courtesy of SCION A/V. DROP THE LIME has been all over my business with his wobble.

06. Drop the Lime – Howling (Original mix)

More wobble. I love this tune and shamelessly played it on the show before.

07. Dolby Anol - Puppies (Blende remix)

Bloc Party

The second BLOC PARTY remix album is amazing. The ARMAND VAN HELDEN remix was the first single off of Intimacy Remixed.

08. Bloc Party – Signs (Armand Van Helden remix)

This track is so subtle and kind of draws me in by surprise with its minimal club wobble combo.

09. Cubic Zirconia – Fuck Work (Proper Villains and Jubilee remix)

Stanton Warriors

When I lived in Brighton, I was lucky enough to see STANTON WARRIORS nearly every month. They put on a great show and their production is incredible and so adaptable. This one’s off of the Stanton Sessions Vol. 3 compilation.

10. Stanton Warriors feat Too Short – Raw Meat

Both sides of this single are incredible. The flip is a bit cheeky, but everyone likes hearing it.

Dance Area

Later on, I dropped one of their CORRECT EFFECT‘s originals but for now, here’s an ace remix of DANCE AREA.

12. Dance Area – 24/7 (Correct Effect remix)

Pance Party

For some reason I had doubts about PANCE PARTY. Perhaps it was because they sent their tunes as M4As. Maybe they’ll read this and send Manalogue MP3 replacements?

13. Deejay Raph – FMIF (Pance Party remix)

You’ve heard this one before.

14. Dirty Disco Youth – Eye of the Tiger

Correct Effect

This is the CORRECT EFFECT referenced earlier. So gritty but rolls so nice.

15. Correct Effect – Effective (Original mix)

Clubby maximalism from Eli Smith.

17. Eli Smith – Party All Night (DJ version)

Yet another N.A.S.A. remix, this time edit duties fall on Montreal’s NROTB who give the tune a little bit of a bounce after taking it to the circuis. Um, it kind of feels like it was thrown about on a trampoline or something. This tune is pretty fun and should bring a smile to your face, or at least it’ll make you smirk – a bit. Maybe.

MP3: N.A.S.A. - Whatchadoin? (NROTB remix)
