N.A.S.A.

North America/South America – or more commonly known as N.A.S.A. – is an ongoing creative collaboration between two lifelong music aficionados, Squeak E. Clean (Sam Spiegel) and DJ Zegon (Ze Gonzales), and their friends, friends of friends and musical heroes.

They were one of 10 acts to record their version of a cult classic track which represents the spirit of the people who’ve worn Doc Martin’s, the iconic British shoe, over the past 50 years. The project involved a collaboration of 10 directors to make videos for each of the tracks as well. The latest release is from N.A.S.A who cover Max Romeo’s “Chase The Devil.”

Some of you may be more familiar with The Prodigy’s version. Breakbeat heavyweight Deekline updated the tune recently as well.

VILLAINS are playing in Winnipeg for the third time! The READYMIX crew are bringing the LA duo in to celebrate their 2nd anniversary. The party will be a bit nuts, running two floors with a number of acts, including The BEAT!, KMac, and THE SHAKE (that’s Manalogue and Lotek yo!), plus Readymix residents Dial.Up and Dan L.

Readymix has one of the best nights Winnipeg has to offer. Cover is only $4 and it’s always packed. Expect this one to reach capacity so get there early. If you’re in town and want in, give us a holla.

I don’t know how many times STEVE AOKI has been through Winnipeg, but as someone on a local forum pointed out, he should probably just move here already. Seriously. The DIM MAK label boss has played The Peg more often than any other touring DJ. Much love I suppose. Anyway, he’s here one more time, this time at REPUBLIC tonight. We had some tickets but they’re already gone.

Let’s jump-start the weekend with a bouncin’ ragga track courtesy of N.A.S.A. and featuring AMANDA BLANK, SIZZLA and LOVEFOXXX.

LOGAN delivers a stylishly ultraviolent video, incorporating characters and artwork from THE DATE FARMERS. It’s a double-cross gone wrong in an isometric barrio, complete with guns and bombs, knives and helicopters, cocaine and mouse-ears.

Yet another N.A.S.A. remix, this time edit duties fall on Montreal’s NROTB who give the tune a little bit of a bounce after taking it to the circuis. Um, it kind of feels like it was thrown about on a trampoline or something. This tune is pretty fun and should bring a smile to your face, or at least it’ll make you smirk – a bit. Maybe.
